Upper Moreland HOOPS welcomes volunteers of all ages and lifestyles. Most positions involve minimal time during the December to March season. Others, such as membership in the Board of Directors, involve a one year commitment. To volunteer, call XXX-XXX-XXXX to speak to a HOOPS board member, who can direct you to the proper person for the position in which you are interested. Some of the available positions include:
Estimated time commitment: 5 hours/week
Coaches are reponsible for teaching basketball fundamentals to young people involved with HOOPS. Coaches generally play one game per week between early December and late March. They also host team practices, communicate directly with parents about game times and transportation, and are responsible for entering statistics into this website. Coaches who are not as familiar with the basic rules of basketball might first consider volunteering as assistant coaches for a year before moving volunteering as head coach.
Estimated time commitment: 3 hours/week
Each team has one or several assistant coaches, who assist the head coach of the team with logistics. Responsibilities of assistant coaches include assisting the head coach in teaching basketball tecnhiques, dealing with logistics such as equipment and scheduling
